Example of locating by id and by name in Selenium IDE

Locating by ID is the most common way of locating elements in Selenium IDE since ID's are unique for each element.
Target Format: id=id of the element
Go to http://it.i88.ca
You can optionally "Inspect element" to verify that the id of the search input box is "gsc-i-id1".
Put
id=gsc-i-id1
into the Target box. Click the Find button and notice that the "Search This Blog" text box becomes highlighted with yellow and bordered with green. This shows us that Selenium IDE was able to locate that element correctly.

Locating elements by name are very similar to locating by ID, except that we use the "name=" prefix instead.
Target Format: name=name of the element
 Go to http://it.i88.ca
You can optionally "Inspect element" to verify that the name of the "Follow by Email" input box is "email".

Put
name=email
into the Target box. Click the Find button and notice that the "Follow by Email" text box becomes highlighted with yellow and bordered with green. This shows us that Selenium IDE was able to locate that element correctly.
